What is Literacy Volunteers of America, Eastern Orange County?

Literacy Volunteers of America, Eastern Orange County, Inc. is a not for profit corporation dedicated to reversing the illiteracy rate in our area.

The service area of LVA/EOC encompasses the Enlarged Newburgh City School District, the ninth largest district in the state, and includes the City of Newburgh and eleven towns.

Located in the Newburgh Free Library, LVA/EOC trains volunteer tutors and then matches these tutors with students who are in need of assistance. LVA/EOC tutors work with English speaking non-readers and non-English speaking students who may or may not be literate in their own language and pre-GED students.

We provide totally private one-on-one tutoring which is available free of charge to our students.
